University of Wollongong
2003
The University of Wollongong is a vibrant university occupying a sprawling rural site. While attractive for its lush greenery it was a challenge to navigate for precisely the same reasons. Although part of the wayfinding team, my main goal was creating and developing a strong graphics concept which took advantage of this unique location.
Seven distinct leaf patterns were created depicting various local native flora to tie in with the site. These were applied to the green header and footer of each freestanding monolith sign. Coloured a deep burgundy, the information panels provide good reading contrast, draw visual attention to each sign and co-ordinate with the existing hardware items (such as light posts, waste disposal units, fencing etc.) At present there are over 35 signs on site.
